Την Κυριακή του Τελώνου και Φαρισαίου ανοίγει η εκκλησιαστική περίοδος του Τριωδίου. Ακολουθώ μία πρακτική κατά την οποία ψάλλω τον 50ο ψαλμό σε ήχο πλάγιο του τετάρτου. Με την επιλογή αυτή τα Πεντηκοστάρια του Τριωδίου που ακολουθούν και είναι τονισμένα στον ίδιο ήχο, ακούγονται ως η μουσική συνέχεια του 50ου ψαλμού.
